Don't Stop Now!!!

We understand the typical process an individual goes through when purchasing disability insurance online. You typically begin by requesting quotes from several companies, waiting awhile to review them all, ask some follow up questions, then make a choice. If you have made your choice, don't stop now.

Frequently Asked Questions about Applying
Since so many of the questions we receive have to do with applying for disability insurance, we have created a separate FAQ section here.

bulletDoes applying lock me in for the coverage?
bulletDo I send in a check?
bulletWho witnesses the signatures?
bulletCan I apply with multiple companies?

Does Applying Lock Me In?

No, you are not bound to the coverage until you make your first payment on an issued disability insurance policy. This makes us prove to you that we can issue the coverage we quote you. If we can't do what we say we can, then you don't have to take the policy.

Do I Send in a Check?

The option is yours. You may only send in a check if your health history is perfect, as this means you are receiving a conditional receipt for the application. It also means you will be responsible for paying premiums from the date you sign the application. If you don't send a check, you have no coverage until you have an issued disability policy you choose to accept. All conditions as outlined in the conditional receipt must be met or there is no liability on the part of the disability insurance company.

Who Witnesses The Signatures?

Anybody. You can have a friend, relative, co-worker, etc... As long as somebody witnesses the signatures we are ok. It does not have to be a notary. It must be a person who can identify the applicant and attest to the fact that he/she signed his/her name to the application.

Can I Apply with multiple disability insurance companies?

No, if we find out there is a concurrent application with another company we will stop underwriting the application, and cease communication. This is a huge waste of our time and money. You may have chosen to take our coverage over the other companies, but some people try to over-insure themselves in this fashion by hiding one of the policies. All it ends up doing is resulting in a recision of coverage.

Tips for a Successful Application

Take your time filling out the application, this is not something you want to rush through. If you answer a medical question with a "Yes", then make sure to provide details on the medical history to include:

  • Names of Doctors seen
  • Dates
  • Degree of Recovery
  • Prescriptions
  • Additional Details

You are trying to paint a picture of yourself with the underwriter. The less questions an underwriter has on an application, the better the offer is that you will receive from them.
